1. What are you good at?
2. How do you feel when you're doing the thing you're good at?
3. How would you feel if people wouldn't let you do the thing you're good at?

1. I am good at skateboarding.
2. I feel happy because I know I'm good at it and know all the things I'm doing.
3. I whould be kind of mad because maybe they don't know how and I whould show them how to do it.

Chapter 1
1. What problems or conflicts are presented in chapter one? Tao needing to find a rabbit is an obvious one; identify at least two more.
2. Predict the resolution of each conflict.

1. One of the problems was that none of the crew members liked him and another one is that he wants
to paint on the cave walls but they don't let him.
2. I think Toa may do something very good so then the clan will respect him and they will also let him paint on the walls.


Chapter 2
1. What two important events happen in he chapters?

1. 1) the first important thing is that he battled a fox so it can live.
2) the second important thing is he went to a haunted place.


Chapter 3
1. What do Tao and Ram learn to do together?
2. What decisions does Toa tell Volt?
3. Look at Tao's decision and actions from Volt's perspective. Pretend that you are Volt. Write a first paragraph.

1. They learn to work together.
2. The decision that that Toa tells volt is that he will hunt by himself.
3. I will worry about what his mother would say. It would probably affect my clan. Maybe I shouldn't
have done this. What am I going to do?


Chapter 4
1.In a good paragraph , describe Toa's mother start with a interest grabber. Then topic sentence.

1. Toa's mother is a beautiful caring, woman. She makes a lot of crafts and little things out of grass.
She is also kind because she did not let Toa go hunt for the hyenas since he had a bad foot.

1. Which two animals does Tao try to draw?
2. Which is easier for him and why?

1. The two animals that he drew was a horse and ram.
2. Ram was easier for him because he was like a best friend to him.


Chapter 6
1. Graybeard realizes that Tao has broken two taboos of his clan. What are they?
2. Which taboo doesn't he know about yet?
3. Graybeard describes Volt differently than we have. What aspects of Volt's character is Graybeard acknowledging?

1. One of the taboos he broke was to cavepaint and without permission.

Write your reaction to the last paragraph in the chapter. Do you agree or disagree with Graybeard? Is what he says true for those times, but not now? Or, is the reverse true: was it not true then, but true now?

1. i dissagree because Toa is a good painter and has a passion for it. It was true but Toa should still paint.

Chapter 8
An important theme in this novel is that people should follow their dreams and do what they believe is right, even if they don't follow their society's expected ways.
The author examines this theme in a stone age setting. Imagine a similar situation today.
What situation did you imagine?

In the situation you imagined, should the person follow his or her dreams or should they follow society's rules? Give your opinion.

1. I magined a boy wanting to do a triathalon but the people did not let him. I do think he sholud do it.

Why do you think Graybeard changed his mind?
What does this tell you about his character?

1. I think graybeard changed his mind because he thinks Tao could really become a real cavepainter
2. It tells me that he is becoming nice.

Chapter 10

2. What almost happened to Tao?

1. yes because he was strict but mean.
